Blog Thoughts from Amber, On Writing

Single Tear…

I’m standing here, typing, fighting back tears, completely overwhelmed by the acknowledgments I am receiving about CAGED.  I can’t put into words what it means to me to hear that other people are as invested in it as I am (so I’m not going to try).

Putting your work out to be read and judged is a very naked experience.  It induces a roller coaster of emotions at the drop of a hat, and frankly, has had me on edge.  Though I know someone will eventually not love it, I still don’t have to like that fact.  What I DO love is having people ask me when the next one will be out, how many are there, and telling me that can’t wait to read them!

The Caged Series is my baby.  I worked tirelessly on it for the past two and a half years, wrote 4 and a half books thus far, and planned a spinoff series to start sometime in late 2012/2013, all while running a business with my husband and raising our two-year-old son.  I never started writing because I thought it would make me rich, or because I wanted fame.

I had an idea.

That idea became a book.

That book became a series.

That series became a part of who I am.

I love Ruby and all her crazy companions, and I love hearing how much you love them too.  You make me smile with every Facebook message, email, and blog comment.  Your reviews on Amazon/Barnes and Noble help others choose to read about Ruby so they, too, can love her.

Caged is still ranked in the fantasy top new releases, and I think it might just stay there for a while 🙂
