But when he and Ruby attempt to retrieve the evidence necessary to solve the case, they soon find themselves in the killer’s sights.

    1. OK, I’ve got one for you – Callie Hart “Deviant”. Talk about a real Alpha (but true good to the core) bad guy. It is a series, so you can read as many as you wnt.

  1. Dear Amber….I see you are STILL being hounded. Good on one side, bad on the other. The yin and yang of being a successful author, huh. I hope all goes well with you and your new baby. Sincerely, Rebecca

  2. CANT WAIT!!! Could you please give us a lil recap of what happened in the last book?? So we r all ready for the new release! Thanks!

  3. Soooooo is there a official date for strayed my dear? I need to read unborn before Strayed comes out. Thank you ! So far in my first reading of unborn I have def came up with a lot of questions GREAT JOB GREAT JOB a million times.

  4. I agree that i is so stupid to harass an author. I had to wait at least 5 years for George R.R.Martin to write Dance with Dragons. He did not write it until HBO wanted to show the series. So if it is worth waiting for, shut the F**K up and get on with your life. I think Amber had a baby, and I hope that everything is great in her world. Sincerely, Rebecca

  5. Just wanted to say I love your books and can’t wait for the next one! I don’t mind the wait- as long as when it’s out, it’s as amazing as the others, then I will be a very happy bunny 🙂 Something to look forward to! Again, as the others have said, I’m going to be gutted when the series ends!! Hope you and you’re baby are doing well also.

  6. To all that are swearing to never read another series until it is complete. . . No one twisted your arm to pick up this series before it was completed, you did that to yourself so don’t take it out on this AMAZING author. To those complaining about the wait. . . . Why don’t YOU write a book and run a business and manage a family, go ahead . . . I’ll wait. If y’all are the intense readers you imply that you are then you would do like the rest of us and read other series from other authors while waiting patiently for ALN to produce a book that will satisfy us completely, unless of course you’d rather her rush through it so you can just complain about it not being what it should have been.

    1. As a fan we do have the opportunity to express our opinion the same as you. Of course everyone will wait for the next book in the series as we do not have a choice. All readers who take the time to read and purchase books have the right to express their own opinions. I personally believe it has taken an extended amount time for the next series but I do understand life happens as well. However it does show the great writing skills of the writer to have so many readers eagerly waiting on the next book. That speaks volumes because there are many other writers who wish they were in this predicament. With that being said I agree that the readers should give other writers a chance and read other series. Hopefully there will be another book by the end of the year.

      1. I agree that everyone is entitled to their feelings and opinions about the books, etc. If I didn’t agree, I wouldn’t have allowed the posts that have been perceived as negative to be posted to the page; I would have just deleted them 🙂 And I do see it as a flattering sentiment that people are anxiously waiting. That’s not a bad problem to have! The only time I ever feel frustrated or hurt is when people dehumanize authors, treating us as if we’re creative machines that should be able to crank things out. It sadly doesn’t always work that way. I truly wish I could have had Strayed ready by now, but there is a LOT of story to tell, and I’ve had a LOT of life happen over the past year or two. Know that I’m working as hard as I can to make it happen and the plan is to have it out this fall. I have a date with my editor for late September to deliver it 🙂 FINGERS CROSSED!!! And thank you for your thoughtful input.

  7. You know SOME OF US loyal fans (me) 😉 deserves a signed paperback in the mail for sitting on your tail right? Without the ( not so subtle), regular and annoying pushing.. Who knows when we would have heard from a Ruby and Sean again!! *innocently smiling*

  8. I really like your caged series. I know you are really busy but please hurry with the next one. You are a really good writer.

  9. It’s not often that I pay for books off iBooks from ‘no name’ (sorry I can only imagine how offensive that may be for you) authors.
But I read the first book because it was free.
I then waited patiently until I got paid and went and bought all the others that I could.
I have been sucked in. Gladly. Sadly my family May or may not have suffered a bit for that (oops)

As a writer myself I understand what happens when you have a mental block. You can’t force it otherwise it just comes out wrong and there’s nothing worse than spending hours slaving over it just to end up turfing it anyway.

But seriously. THANK YOU. I will be grieving when this series ends as I have become so invested in this.

  10. I’m soooo disappointed that strayed isn’t out yet, it’s been a year since tarnished was released… WAY. TOO. LONG. TO. BE. WAITING!!

I don’t usually read books in a series unless they are all out but thought I would make it a one off to read this series.. I shouldn’t have bothered, there is honestly nothing more off putting then waiting over a year for another book to a series to come out when it could be another year after that for another book to the series to come out..

Don’t get me wrong, you are one A -wait for it- Mazing writer but I just don’t get how an author can start one series and then move on to another with the first series not being finished.

Again, LOVE your work but so sick of waiting…

    1. Okay….
First, thanks for the ah-(wait for it)-mazing. It never hurts to hear that people dig your hard work…and the crazy people in your head. so now let’s address your second issue.
I hate waiting for books I love too. I do. I nearly went homicidal waiting for Shadowfever to come out. I was ready to stab someone at Borders when they told me they didn’t have it in stock the day it came out. I really do feel your pain in that regard. But what I didn’t know was that the author had suffered some major illnesses while writing that book. When I found that out, I felt a bit bad. It’s easy to forget that these people are just that: people. All I can offer in my defense are these points. Maybe it’ll help you at least understand why it’s taken me this long or maybe it won’t. I can’t do a lot about that, but because you’re so invested, I’m willing to justify my tardiness…
      *clears throat*
      1) i had a baby three weeks after Tarnished was released. She had colic. For 4 months I did nothing but carry her around. The only reason i was able to edit and release Undertow (a story that had plagued my mind for over three years and took only three weeks to write because of that), was because my husband would take Peyta for an hour and let me crank out what I could. Even now, I’m up 3-5 times a night with her and she’s 11 months old. It’s REALLY hard to write when your mind is exhausted 😦
      2) I am NOT a full time author. I run a business with my husband and at this stage I’m a full time at home mom of two non-school aged kids, I get an hour…MAYBE two a day to market, write, edit, and do all other administrative things while both of my kids sleep. full time at home working mom is a juggling act that few could survive, i think. I’m doing the best I can.
      3) This story is a BITCH to write. It is going to be about 100 pages longer than the longest of the Caged books to date. So much comes out in it that I want to be sure it’s done in a way that is seamless. Writing something sub par and putting it out quickly is something I’ll just never do. I owe it to fans to do better than that.
      4) Unborn…I have plodded through writing bits and pieces of that books for two years now. But when a publisher offered to pick up the series, I couldn’t pass it up. However, that now put me on THEIR deadlines and under the constraints of THEIR non-compete clauses, which don’t allow me to release Caged books withing a certain time period before and after Unborn novels.
5)I see what I see when I see it. By that I mean that I have a collage of crazy characters that live in my head. They are an unruly bunch who don’t believe in waiting their turn to show me bits and pieces of the story. So, I write what I see when I see it/when i can.

Here’s the maybe-silver-lining: I have a good idea when Strayed will be out. By late Sept/mid October, you should have it in hand…all 8 million pages of it. I hope that helps a bit 🙂

      1. ALN,

I DID remember that you had a baby. I’ve been patiently checking your page monthly looking for the release date, but never angry when it wasn’t there. I, too, am a mom of 3 kids, 2 under school age. I was also recently a full-time college student in an extremely demanding program for 2 years, so I know what you’re going through. My second baby had colic, but “lucky” for me it only lasted 8 weeks. I commend your dedication to even continue trying to write at this time in your life. I can only imagine how crazy it is. I guess I just wanted to say 1. Thank you 2. That you don’t owe anyone an explanation, because, like you said, you are just a person with a real life and anyone should be able to figure that out on their own. 3. I will swoop up the next Caged book the day it comes out with not one begrudging thought about how long I had to wait, because good things come to those who wait and some things are worth waiting for. 4. I am so excited to hear it is going to be a long one!

        Rock on, Amber!

      2. I love your books and have been waiting along with everyone else. And yes I can’t wait till the day strayer comes out. But understand you have a life also. So can’t wait for next ruby fix. Will be ready for it when it comes !!

    2. I agree with Louise…..I will never read a book in a series again if all the books are not released. It’s disappointing but it is what it is. I will push this book out of my mind and hopefully f I remember I will check back to see if the next book is released. You are a great writer and I loved your caged series. I have not read any of your other books but I have enjoyed the caged series.

    1. No scowly faces! 🙂 I’m hoping to have it at the end of September. I have a published release for Unborn at the end of August and I have to work under the parameters of my non-compete clause with my publisher. I’m working on getting a pre-order set up for it on Amazon and Apple, so once it’s established, I will post that. If you’re not signed up for my newsletter, you might want to. I post those release dates (along with special prizes) on there.

  11. I hope life is being kind to you, Amber. I, along with everyone else, enjoy your writing and have been checking your website every day for the release of Strayed, and the rest of the series.

  12. Love your Caged series. Wondering when strayed will be out. Also looking forward to your new series as well.

You are an amazing writer and I enjoy getting lost in your books.

    1. It’s going to be a little while, but I posted a teaser on facebook, and will be sending it out on my newsletter soon. If you haven’t signed up to receive it, you can find the link for it on the left sidebar of this blog 🙂

      1. Love the series! Is Strayed close to being released??? I haven’t been able to focus on any other book! I have truly enjoyed your writing style.

  13. I love love LOVE the creative way you write! I’m being patient because I know it’s going to be amazing! Hope all is well with you and I’ll be looking for all you have coming 🙂

      1. How’s the baby? Hope you are all doing well. I also miss Sean and Ruby, but I sure as heck understand.

  14. I just wanted to tell you that you are an amazing writer! I’ve had some personal hardships lately and your books have really helped put my mind in another place. Thank you for everything. 🙂 Can’t wait to read more!

  15. Come on come on come on, I’ve finished nursing school so now I can read real books again. I NEED some good reading again!!!!

  16. I absolutely love this series! I think I read every book you had out in under 2 weeks (And I started reading when you released Fractured)

  17. I just finished Fractured. I’m an absolute fan and can’t wait for Strayed! Is there someway to be notified automatically when it’s released?

  18. Finished Fractured when does this one come out I’m dying to see what’s next….is this series going to connect with the unborn series?

    1. TARNISHED should be out around June/July. That will have to tide you over until STRAYED hits. Unborn in DEFINITELY related to the CAGED world, but is NOT a spinoff. There will be some familiar names thrown around and maybe a character or two you recognize, but the story follows a new main character and a whole lot of new PC members. It’s also set in a different city, however, it does run parallel to CAGED. I’m not sure when it’ll be out. I had planned to have it done for the fall but there might be a change in that plan. Stay tuned to find out more about that.
